納爾遜·羅利赫拉赫拉·曼德拉
(Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela，1918-2013）
是南非首位黑人總統，被尊稱為南非國父。
曼德拉完全稱得上是當今世界最偉大的政治家之一。
他的偉大，不僅是為了爭取黑人與有色人種的自由，
而承受了27年的牢獄之災。
而且是以一個現代政治家的開闊視野，
推崇自由、倡導民主、維護憲法，
用和平、正義的方式實現了現代政治的權力轉移與交接。
他在牢獄之中，
經常讀威廉亨利的名篇「Invictus 不可征服」
也許正是這首詩，永遠支持著曼德拉，
也許正是這首詩，深刻影響著曼德拉，
直至最後成為南非總統。

透過覆蓋我的深夜，
我看見層層無底的黑暗。

作品介紹：
這首詩出自英國詩人威廉亨利（1849-1903）。
他從小體弱多病，患有肺結核症，因此一隻腳被截掉；
為了保住另一隻腳，他一生都奮力和病魔抗爭，不向命運屈服。
「Invictus」，拉丁語，（=unconquerable）「不可征服」之意。
此詩是詩人在病榻上所作。
